Slate frames or extra handles at the beginning and/or the end can be annoying in a SyncSketch review playlist. SyncSketch now has the ability to automatically select a playback range that omits these extraneous frames. This is a project-specific setting.
Note: This feature is only available to customers on Team, Enterprise or Education Plus plans.
- From the Project Overview, click the Manage menu button and select Edit Project Settingsā¦
- Select the Media Settings navigation tab:
- Click Enable Pre and Post Roll.
The default settings assume that your uploads have one extraneous frame at the beginning (i.e. a slate frame). Thus, Pre-Roll Frames is set to 1. If you have a fixed number of frames at the beginning and/or end of your uploads, enter those values in the Pre- and Post-Roll Frames fields, respectively.
Your uploads will now have a playback range automatically set that will exclude the extraneous frames during playback and looping in the Review Player.
Note that the experimental Sequence Playback feature does not observe selected ranges, and so currently this feature does not address the issue of slate frames flashing during sequence playback.
Applying Settings Selectively
It's likely that only specific sets of movies uploaded into your project will have pre- and post-roll frames. To apply these settings to a subset of uploads, enter a substring from your studio's naming convention for these files in the Item Name Filter field. You can enter multiple text search patterns separated by commas. For example, entering "shot_, sequence_" into this field will cause these settings to be applied to any clip uploaded to any Review in the Project if it contains either "shot_" or "sequence_" in the name.
ShotGrid Integration
If you are syncing a playlist from ShotGrid, enabling this feature will cause SyncSketch to automatically observe the Movie Has Slate setting for the version in ShotGrid. When Pre- and Post-Roll > Enable is checked, such clips will be assumed to have one preroll frame.
