Why are you making these changes?
At SyncSketch, we aim to deliver an exceptional user experience that scales with your needs and supports your unique workflows. As we evolve, we constantly re-evaluate how to best serve our diverse user community. These changes will allow us to continue building amazing features for all of our customers.
Our SyncSketch Indie and Light plans are ideal for smaller teams and individuals. The recent adjustments are intended to transition larger teams and studios to plans that have been tailor-made for their unique needs and size. Our Team plan is ideal for larger teams working together on multiple projects and includes access to our 3D model viewer, advanced brushes, sequence playback, and our recently released media tab for seamless content navigation.
We understand that changes like these can require an adjustment period. To make the transition smoother, our support team is here to assist you (support@syncsketch.com), should you have any questions or need guidance on choosing the right plan for your evolving needs.
How are you notifying us if we are impacted by these changes?
We sent an email to owners of SyncSketch Indie, legacy*, and Light workspaces on August 22nd, 2023.
For Indie and legacy workspaces created before August 21st, 2023, we intend to show in-app notifications for seat and storage limits until the applicable renewal date specified below.
For Light workspaces created before August 21st, 2023, we intend to show in-app notifications for seat and storage limits until September 29th, 2023.
*legacy refers to plans created prior to our rollout of Indie, e.g. “Pro”, “Professional”, “Starter”.
When will these new plan limits take effect?
Indie and Legacy
💡 For our paying customers, it depends on your renewal date. You have until September 29th, 2023 to take advantage of the up to 40%* upgrade discount.
-
Example 1: Your next renewal date is on January 31, 2024. These changes will take place on the same day, January 31, 2024.
-
Example 2: Your renewal date was August 3, 2023. (i.e. any date before September 29th, 2023.) These changes will take place on the next earliest renewal date following September 29th, 2023.
If you’re on a monthly plan, the effective date for these changes will be October 3rd, 2023.
If you’re on an annual plan, the effective date for these changes will be August 3rd, 2024.
Until the effective date determined above, your SyncSketch plan will not be subject to the new limits. If your account exceeds these limits on the effective date, your account will be automatically upgraded to the Team tier to ensure usage of SyncSketch continues uninterrupted. If your account uses no more than 15 users and no additional storage options were added beyond the included 50 GB, your account will remain on the Indie plan.
-
Example 3: You signed up for a new account on the Indie or Light plan on August 31st, 2023 (i.e. any date on or after August 21st, 2023). No monitoring is needed. Your SyncSketch Indie or Light workspace should automatically adopt the new limits.
*40% discount applies to annual billing, while 20% discount applies to monthly billing.
Light
💡 SyncSketch Light workspaces will have the seat and project limits in effect starting September 29th, 2023.* You have until September 29th, 2023 to take advantage of the up to 40%** upgrade discount.
On September 29th, 2023, if your account has a maximum of 5 users (including the owner) and 2 projects, you can remain on the Light plan. If you have more than 5 users or more than 2 projects, you will need to upgrade to a paid plan to ensure usage of SyncSketch continues uninterrupted.
*Expanded upload capabilities for all Light plans went into effect on August 21st, 2023. Light users no longer have the 20 file/week upload limit, and you are able to upload files larger than 300 MB, for a total of 2 GB uploads per month. New Light accounts created on or after August 21st, 2023 will automatically adopt the new limits.
**40% discount applies to annual billing, while 20% discount applies to monthly billing.
How do I know what my current usage is?
You can easily view your current seat, storage, and upload allocations in the Usage tab of your SyncSketch dashboard:
How to review your workspace usage
I’ve been a SyncSketch customer for a long time. Are you offering a discount to upgrade?
Upgrade to Indie or Team before September 29th, 2023 and you will receive a 12 month discount of 20% when paid monthly, OR a 40% discount when paid annually.
Our Team plan includes access to our 3D model viewer, advanced brushes, sequence playback, and our recently released media tab for seamless content navigation.
If you’re not quite ready for Team, our Indie plan also allows you to manage approval statuses, integrate with Maya and Unity, and export PDF summaries for offline review.
We're including this promotion to help absorb some of the impact for our loyal customers. We hope this offer will allow you to stick with us as we strive to push the boundaries of intuitive real-time visual collaboration.
What happens if my Light account exceeds these new limits?
Starting September 29th, 2023, SyncSketch Light accounts exceeding the new limits will still have access to existing media, reviews and settings, but will not be able to upload or invite new users. Impacted accounts can adjust their seat and storage allocation until September 29th, 2023 to ensure usage of SyncSketch continues uninterrupted.
💡 If you upgrade to an Indie or Team plan before September 29th, 2023, you will receive a 12 month discount of 20% when paid monthly, OR a 40% discount when paid annually. Take advantage of your upgrade discount here.
What happens if my Indie or legacy account exceeds these new limits?
Starting September 29th, 2023, SyncSketch Indie and legacy* users who exceed any of the above limits will be automatically upgraded at their next renewal to the tier that best suits their seat and storage allocation to ensure usage of SyncSketch continues uninterrupted.
💡 If you upgrade to a Team plan before September 29th, you will receive a 12 month discount of 20% when paid monthly, OR a 40% discount when paid annually. Take advantage of your upgrade discount here.
*legacy refers to plans created prior to our rollout of Indie, e.g. “Pro”, “Professional”, “Starter”.
How do I get my account under the updated limits?
A gold banner in the Project Overview will advise you if your account exceeds the updated limits.
If you do not see this banner in the Project Overview, your service will continue uninterrupted under your original plan and you do not need to take any action.
If you make adjustments to your account before the transition (September 29th, 2023 at 9AM PDT for free accounts, or your first renewal after that date for Indie accounts), the gold banner will no longer appear and your service and pricing will continue uninterrupted.
Here's how to make adjustments for each of the limits.
Reducing seat usage
The best way to reduce seat usage is from the Users tab in the Workspace Settings. Use this view to find members that no longer need to be a part of your Workspace. The x icon at the far right of the user's row can be used to remove them from the workspace.
Note: Removing a user from the Users tab in the Project Overview does not necessarily remove them from the workspace, and may not reduce your seat count. The Users tab in the Workspace Settings is the only certain method.
Reducing storage usage
The best way for an Indie account to reduce storage is to go to a Project Overview, reveal the review media in the largest Reviews, and switch to Table view.
From the Table view you can select the files you no longer need using the checkboxes at the left, then click Remove from the floating Action bar. You can sort the media items by file size in order to group the largest files by clicking the Size column header.
Note: Removing an item will only lower your storage usage if the item no longer exists in any Review. You must remove an item from every Review in which it appears.
Reducing Project count
Users on Free plans with three or more projects will need to reduce the number of projects to 2 in order to enjoy continued service after September 29th, 2023 without requiring a paid plan.
To preserve your data, you can consolidate the reviews in all of your projects into one or two projects using the Move Review feature, available from the Project Overview.
To delete a Project, go to the Projects tab in the Workspace Settings. The Delete Project control can be revealed by hovering at the left end of the Project's row.
Monthly upload limits
Monthly uploads are not a factor in determining whether your plan needs to be adjusted. No action needs to be taken.
Unused account Limits
If you are paying for seats or storage that exceed the updated limits but are unused, you do not need to take any action. Your account limits will automatically be adjusted within the updated Indie limits and your service will continue. Your renewal billing will reflect the lower limits.
For example, say you are paying for 20 seats but only using 15, and you are paying for 100GB but only using 40. Your Indie plan will be renewed as an Indie plan with 15 seats and 50GB of storage, effectively lowering your bill.
Are Education, Education Plus, Team or Enterprise plans affected by these latest changes?
No. All plans outside of Indie, legacy*, and Light are unaffected at this time. Keep up to date with the latest changes and bug fixes by viewing our change log here.
*legacy refers to plans created prior to our rollout of Indie, e.g. “Pro”, “Professional”, “Starter”.
